Recently I have been thinking a ton on the topic of happiness. What makes a happy person and how can I become that?I believe that a HUGE part of finding happiness is simply to be grateful. Gratitude not only helps you to be happier, but it also helps you to perform better, think better, and live better.
GRATITUDE AND PERFORMANCE/ About a year ago, I faced up against the #1 sophomore track runner in the nation. I was nervous, feeling sick, and totally unprepared mentally. I was scared. Then, I remembered some of the advice that I was given from Kyle Merber, a 3:52 miler, who I had interviewed on my podcast. He said, “It is impossible to feel gratitude and fear at the same time.” To get rid of fear, you have to replace it with gratitude. Kyle told me that before every race, he got on the starting line and chose to be grateful that he had the opportunity to race. Next time you are feeling scared or nervous for whatever reason, try gratitude instead.
PRACTICE GRATITUDE/ If you can learn to be grateful for what you have, you can learn to love the world around you and develop a positive mindset. The easiest way to do this is to take a few minutes out of your day to write down and think about 3 things that you are grateful for. The goal here is to train your brain to see the good. Always be scanning for positivity and that is exactly what you will find. Gratitude leads to happiness. Leave a comment on how you are going to apply this?
